JAPANESE BUDDHISM STUDY TOURS
Visits to representative view of Japan's most historically significant Buddhist temples are the focus of Tara's Japanese Buddhism Study Tours. Led by a tour coordinator well-versed in Japanese Buddhism, each tour includes a presentation at one of these temples by a resident Buddhist priest, who introduces our visitors to the essential tenets of Japanese Buddhist religious philosophy and ritual. These succinct and informative lectures familiarize participants with the soul of Buddhism and enable them to appreciate the essential role Buddhism plays in the Japanese consciousness.
A unique feature of these visits, our guests actually lodge at temples on the sacred mountains of Koya and EIHEIJI, sites of the monastic centers of two of Japan's most prominent and influential Buddhist denominations. During these temple stays, visitors are immersed in the peace and tranquility induced by these sublime spiritual settings, ideal surroundings in which to experience the presence of the Buddha.
A the conclusion of each Japanese Buddhism Study Tour, optional visits to either a well frequented popular onsen or a secluded mountain onsen may be scheduled. Stays at either of these traditional hot-spring resorts afford a relaxing dénouement to a spiritually enriching cultural experience.
